KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) will host its first-ever virtual Parade of Winners live on Facebook April 1, 2021, at 7 p.m. CDT. The event will recognize all state winners of the VFW’s Voice of Democracy scholarship competition as well as the national Patriot’s Pen contest winner, and will include special guest appearances by those known to the VFW community.
The virtual Parade of Winners, sponsored by Twisted X and Dell, will culminate with the surprise announcement and onsite presentation of the first place $30,000 T.C. Selman Memorial Scholarship award at the winner’s home.
“The disappointment of not being able to award all of this year’s scholarships in person doesn’t diminish the impact that the $3 million in total scholarships and awards presented at the national, state and local levels of our youth scholarship competitions will have our youth as they look to college and their futures,” said VFW National Commander Hal Roesch II. “Our students have overcome so much in the past year, and this year’s submissions left me filled with the hope and confidence that our nation has a bright and influential future with these young people taking the lead.”
