VFW Dept GA WWI DonationThe VFW Department of Georgia proudly presented a $17,050 donation to the Georgia's World War I Centennial Commission during the Commission's March 22 meeting. The donation, which included donations from 20 VFW Posts throughout the state, marked the second payment of the Department's pledged $50,000 to support the Commission's efforts to raise awareness of the significance of WWI in history and the role Georgians played in it.

When combined with the Department's initial $10,000 donation presented to the Commission in January, yesterday's donation brings total funds raised to $27,050.

The department's ongoing efforts to honor VFW Posts and those who served in World War I will continue through financial support of the Commission's work. The third installment of the Department's pledge will be presented at the VFW Department of Georgia Convention in Macon, Ga., on June 16, 2017.

On March 21, 2017, VFW National Headquarters proudly presented the national World War I Centennial Commission with a check for $100,000 in support of the upcoming “Centennial Commemoration of the U.S. Entry into World War I” event on April 6. Read more here.
