March 3-7 is VFW’s 2024 Washington Conference in Washington, D.C. During this time, VFW leaders converge on Capitol Hill to engage with their lawmakers on behalf of all veterans. Additionally, this conference provides an opportunity for the VFW to discharge its mid-year business to include committee meetings and a meeting of the National Council of Administration.
The highlight of the gathering will be the testimony of VFW Commander-in-Chief Duane Sarmiento on Capitol Hill before the House and Senate Veterans’ Affairs Committees. The Chief will address VFW’s Priority Goals.
Also at the event, the state winners of the Voice of Democracy and Patriot's Pen scholarship contests are announced. Both first-place winners will read their winning essays before conference delegates after being presented with their winnings.
VFW magazine would love to see your photos from the Washington Conference. Be sure to capture photos with your fellow VFW members outside the Capitol, in the halls of lawmakers’ office buildings or on the National Mall.
With so much taking place during the conference, opportunities for photos are plenty. Clear, crisp photos of VFW members proudly wearing their VFW caps in the nation’s capital are most likely to make it into VFW magazine.
