VFW Celebrates African-American History Month

'Our African-American service men, women and their families have made, and continue to make, remarkable impacts on our military'

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) celebrates African-American History Month throughout the month of February.

“Our African-American service men, women and their families have made, and continue to make, remarkable impacts on our military,” said VFW National Commander William “Doc” Schmitz. “Their distinct contributions and selfless service have helped make our military the elite fighting force it is today in preserving the very freedoms we hold so dearly.”

Every week in February, the VFW will highlight an African-American veteran who has made outstanding contributions to our military and society.
