VFW: Larry McReynolds Joins Troy Polamalu in Standing 'United for Veterans'

VFW’s campaign for veterans continues to gain momentum

NASCAR legend Larry McReynolds has teamed up with the NFL’s Troy Polamalu to stand “UNITED FOR VETERANS” this holiday season. “UNITED FOR VETERANS” is a historic awareness campaign launched by the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the U.S. (VFW), dedicated to raising awareness and funds that help veterans secure their VA benefits, smoothly transition to civilian life and apply to receive assistance for necessities like rent, mortgage payments and food.

With waves of new veterans recently home from the war, support for America's veterans has never meant more than it does right now. From now through the holiday season, VFW supporters will lend their voices and rally their communities to stand UNITED FOR VETERANS.

The UNITED FOR VETERANS platform empowers supporters to join with the thousands of Americans who are coming together to stand UNITED FOR VETERANS by claiming a badge to pledge their support for veterans. The badges can then be shared through social media tools, such as Facebook and Twitter. Supporters are also able to start their own personal fundraising campaign on behalf of the VFW to support the thousands of troops who have returned home and face a long road to recovery.

Photos of these supporters will be featured on UnitedforVeterans.org. Throughout the month of November, photos of supporters standing UNITED FOR VETERANS will also be published on the digital screens of Time Square, generating millions of impressions each day.

The campaign is now being headlined by prominent Americans who fervently believe in its endeavors Troy Polamalu, Larry McReynolds and co-host of WNYW FOX 5’s “Good Day New York,” David Price. Each is critically acclaimed in his own right, but united in the effort to support our veterans.

Supporters are urged to join Team Troy at unitedforveterans.org/troy or Team Larry at unitedforveterans.org/larrymac.

“As the country stands divided on politics and other important issues, there is one thing we can agree on,” says Polamalu. “We all stand UNITED FOR VETERANS. In honor of Veterans Day and the holiday season, I'm showing my appreciation for the men and women who have protected our country by joining the Veterans of Foreign Wars’ movement to help give back to those who truly deserve our support.”

Watch Troy and Larry pledge their support to VFW’s United For Veterans.

Strong safety of the Pittsburgh Steelers and a USC graduate, Troy has an exceptional record: he’s a 6-time Pro Bowl Selection, 4-time NFL All-Pro, 2010 AP Defensive Player of the Year, 2-time Super Bowl Champion, 2010 NFL Alumni Player of the Yearand stands out for having the #1 selling jersey in the country. But what is even more striking is his patriotism and strong belief in standing UNITED FOR VETERANS.

NASCAR legend, widely known as Larry Mac, is one of racing’s most successful and recognized crew chiefs. With a career that began in 1975, he has enjoyed 23 wins including 2 Daytona 500's with the late Davey Allison/1992 and the late Dale Earnhardt/1998, 21 pole positions, 122 Top 5 finishes and 209 Top 10 finishes in 457 starts. Larry currently serves as a Broadcast Analyst for NASCAR Racing on FOX, SPEED and TNT. He stands firmly behind supporting our brave service members and providing them with support for their basic needs.

Dave is instantly recognizable for his work as co-host of WNYW FOX 5’s “Good Day New York.” But some of his proudest moments have actually been off-camera -- and on stage -- entertaining the troops with stand-up comedy throughout Iraq, Afghanistan, Kuwait and Germany. For much of the past decade he has traveled with the non-profit organization, "Stars for Stripes" to bring comedy to some of the most remote war zones. Dave wants to ensure that each veteran who has so valiantly protected each of us in uniform, is cared for upon their return from service. He stands UNITED FOR VETERANS.
