Veterans & Military Support Program Chair Tools

As a Veteran & Military Support program chair, you play a vital role in our organization. In many cases, our VFW programs are the first introduction a service member or veteran has with the organization. Your role as a chair is both important, and multi-faceted.

To help you perform your role, we've compiled the forms and reports you use most frequently in one place.

To download the report or file, simply click the file name below. If you run into any issues or can't find what you're looking for, don't hesitate to contact Mark Herron, Assistant Director, Veterans & Military Support (Programs), at MHerron@vfw.org.

VMS Current News

January 2024

VMS Unmet Needs Program Changes

The VFW National Headquarters Unmet Needs Program has changed. The Unmet Needs Program is only assisting active-duty service members and their families to include activated Guard/Reserves. The financial hardship must be a direct result of a current deployment/military pay error not the fault of the service member/pending medical discharge due to military related injuries/illnesses received while on active duty. The grant limit has increased to $2500. The VFW Assistance/Financial Grant webpage has been updated along with the links to the Unmet Needs Eligibility Criteria PDF and Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) PDF.

VMS Lapel Pin Orders

We continue to encourage the Departments that ordered their VMS lapel pins to pay for them as quickly as possible.

If Departments have paid already, thank you!

The 2024-2025 VMS Lapel Pins are currently underway and Departments that still owe will not be able to pre-order until the past due amount is paid.

VMS Donations for All-American

Donating to the VMS Program can only be done via the Dashboard by going to the link “VMS Donation” at the upper right-hand corner of the screen. Your $100 or more donation to VMS Programs meets the eligibility criteria for All-American in this category.

PLEASE DO NOT USE THE RED/WHITE DONATE LINK IN THE UPPER RIGHTHAND CORNER OF THE VETERANS & MILITARY SUPPORT PROGRAM CHAIR TOOLS. THIS LINK GOES TO THE GENERAL DONATION PAGE AND WILL NOT BE CREDITED AS A VMS DONATION.

Continue to do what you are doing and thank you for your continued support!
