KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) is proud to announce it will host its annual Parade of Winners live on Facebook on April 7, 2022, at 7 p.m. CDT. The virtual event will recognize all VFW Department (state) winners of the VFW’s 2021-2022 Voice of Democracy scholarship competition, as well as the national Patriot’s Pen contest winner.
Sponsored by Twisted X, the virtual Parade of Winners will culminate with the live surprise announcement of the first place $30,000 T.C. Selman Memorial Scholarship award.
“The VFW asked high schoolers ‘America: Where Do We Go from Here?’ and it is evident by the caliber of entries from this year’s state winners that the future of our country is incredibly bright,” said VFW National Commander Fritz Mihelcic. “Judging this year’s competition was tough, and the VFW is honored to be able to award more than $3 million in total scholarships at the national, state and local levels.”
