WASHINGTON — After two years of COVID restrictions, leadership from the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) will address Congress in person for its annual veterans’ advocacy hearing.
VFW National Commander Matthew “Fritz” Mihelcic will testify March 2 at 2 p.m. (EST) before a special joint hearing of the House and Senate Committees on Veterans’ Affairs held at the U.S. Capitol Building.
“The time is now for Congress to hear the veterans’ voice and address these crucial issues,” Mihelcic said. “Due to the chaos of the COVID-19 pandemic, veterans and service members alike faced unprecedented challenges in areas such as transitioning from military service, processing VA claims, accessing VA benefits, and getting the health care they earned. This is an opportunity for Congress to listen to our voice and take action.”
Last year, Congress made the decision to move all hearings to an online, socially distanced format out of pandemic safety concerns. With pandemic restrictions and mandates lifting across the country, the VFW will deliver their remarks in person again.
