VFW Unmet Needs Tops $6 Million in Assistance

Since the program’s start in 2004, more than 4,000 grants have been awarded.

The VFW proudly announced its Unmet Needs program has provided more than $6 million in financial assistance to more than 4,000 struggling military service members and their families. Today’s program eligibility requirements have been expanded to award up to $5,000 and now includes veterans who separated prior to 2001. Interested service members, veterans and their families can now submit an application online. Read more about the program and how to apply

VFW Calls on POTUS to End Bonus Payback Issue Now

'This witch hunt is hurting morale while we're still at war. ...'

The VFW has called on the president to eliminate the collection process aimed at thousands of California National Guard members after learning the National Guard failed to properly screen reenlistments for bonus eligibility. VFW National Commander Brian Duffy stated, “The president must get personally involved and not leave it to a weak system of checks and balances that created a financial crisis that is tremendously impacting the lives of thousands of current and former Guard members.” Read Commander Duffy’s full statement .
