‘Our nation would not have matured to where it is today without Dr. King’s vision’

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) honors the remarkable legacy of civil rights pioneer Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.“This Martin Luther King Jr. Day, let us pause to remember the courage, dedication, and perseverance of Dr. King and his role in leading the civil rights movement when tension within our society was extremely high,” said VFW National Commander William “Doc” Schmitz. “Our nation would not have matured to where it is today without Dr. King’s vision – a nation that prides itself on diversity, equality, and opportunity for all.”

As we salute Dr. King, the VFW encourages its members, families and all Americans to honor his legacy through volunteerism in our communities across our great nation.
