'A Delight to Work With’

VFW Post partners with local business to boost youth programs

Members of VFW Post 2269 in Wixom, Michigan, noticed a decline in Voice of Democracy and Patriot’s Pen participation in recent years. That changed in 2021 when they teamed up with MemorialBracelets.com, also located in Wixom.

The company ran local Facebook ads directing students and parents to the scholarship pages on Post 2269’s website. According to MemorialBracelets.com President Rob Tacy, the ads generated awareness, too, among teachers and coaches who then passed on the information to students.

“This local buzz increased the number of entries for both scholarship programs,” Tacy said.

Post Quartermaster Pam Young said that Tacy had reached out to her because his company wanted to contribute to a meaningful program at the Post. After talking about it, they decided on the youth programs.

“He was really a delight to work with,” Young said. “He did all the campaigning for us. It seemed so easy.”

MemorialBracelets.com donated $500 each to the VOD and Patriot’s Pen first-place winners. Tacy said they also presented plaques to be presented to the winners at the Post’s celebration.
Evan Brueckner won the Post’s VOD competition while Amanda Lu took first in Patriot’s Pen.

“We enjoy meeting the people who receive the donation in person and seeing first-hand what it does to improve their lives,” Tacy said. “This is the first time we have worked with the Post, but it has been such a great experience we plan to do it again.”

MemorialBracelets.com launched on Oct. 23, 2001, to help others remember the victims of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks. From the beginning, $2 from the sale of every product sold by MemorialBracelets.com has been donated. To date, nearly $350,000 has been donated to various groups to now include the VFW.

With Russia waging war on Ukraine, MemorialBracelets.com is offering Stand with Ukraine bracelets.
