VFW DISPATCH – October 2016 |
||||||||||||
We’re pleased to report to you that last Saturday’s, “A Day to Change Direction” was a great success and an important step in changing the stigma surrounding mental health. Thousands of VFW and Auxiliary members, as well as veteran supporters turned out in communities across America for the national day of service, hosting events such as physical training events, picnics and ensuring participants learned the Five Signs of emotional suffering. Your VFW will continue to promote dialogue on mental health, emotional suffering and access to care, while striving to change the culture of mental health in America in general, and for the veteran community in particular. The veteran suicide rate is staggering, and together, we must continue to work to better understand and combat this epidemic. If you were unable to participate in Saturday’s events, you can get involved now by making a pledge to know the Five Signs of emotional suffering. We thank you for your effort in tackling this important issue. Respectfully, Your VFW Membership Team
