Vander Clute Memorial Motorcycle Ride Rolls into Louisville

Over 50 motorcyclists rode into Louisville, Ky., during the 114th VFW National Convention to present a check for $14,316 to VFW Commander-in-Chief Hamilton designated for the VFW National Military Services (NMS) programs. After the initial check presentation, various VFW Posts and Departments offered up extra donations and extended the contribution by more than $3,000, making the total over $17,500.

The Vander Clute Memorial Motorcycle Ride is an annual event that serves to honor the memory of VFW advocate Howard E. Vander Clute Jr., a former VFW Commander-in-Chief and motorcycle enthusiast who passed away in 2000. Many participants ride from across the country to join the event and be a part of the check presentation at the VFW National Convention. The riders raise money through registration fees and local VFW sponsorship from VFW Posts, Districts, Departments and VFW Ladies Auxiliaries in their area.

This yearly donation helps NMS continue programs for active duty troops and their families such as Operation UplinkTM, Unmet Needs, and the Military Assistance Program. Each year, these patriotic motorcyclists come together to raise a significant amount of money to make a difference in the lives of those who risk their lives for us.
