The
Automobile Dealers Association of Greater Kansas City’s Charitable Foundation
wanted to make a difference in the lives of its hometown veterans. So, for
every new vehicle sold by participating dealers June 28-July 4, it donated to
two local programs geared to assist veterans and military families through an
initiative called “Driving 4th for Veterans.”
One
of the fortunate recipients chosen was VFW’s Unmet Needs program which provides
free grants for local military families and veterans who face urgent financial
issues due to—in most cases—deployment. The financial grants assist with
everyday needs such as mortgage payments, utilities, vehicle repairs, medical
and food expenses. The program is one of three VFW programs administered by its
National Military Service department.
Larry
Carl, Executive Vice President of the Automobile Dealers Association of Greater
Kansas City, visited the VFW National Headquarters today to express his
gratitude to local veterans by delivering a $40,000 donation to the VFW
Foundation in support of Unmet Needs.
“We’re
honored that one of our programs was chosen by the Automobile Dealers
Association. Unmet Needs has made a difference in the lives of countless
military families very deserving of a hand up when they’ve needed it. This
donation will truly help us to make an impact in the lives of our fellow Kansas
Citians and we’re very grateful for this generous donation,” says Mike Penney,
Director of VFW’s National Military Service department.
