VFW Joins Other VSOs to Launch 9/11 Memorial Golf Fund

New platform to raise money in support of critical programs for military heroes and families

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The Veterans of Foreign Wars has joined together with four other veterans service organizations to launch the 9/11 Memorial Golf Fund to help commemorate the 20th anniversary of the September 11 terrorist attacks on the United States, and honor those who have served in the wake. The goal is to raise needed funds in support of each organization’s purpose and mission. For the VFW, that includes support to our programs which provide free claims assistance and vital financial support to America’s veterans, service members and their families.

Joining the VFW in the initiative are Veteran Golfers Association, Feherty’s Troops First Foundation, The Independence Fund and The Semper Fi & America’s Fund

“America’s modern Greatest Generation was born as a result of the September 11 attacks on our country. Millions of brave men and women raised their right hand and vowed to defend America despite the vast eminent dangers of the job,” said Fritz Mihelcic, VFW national commander. “Working diligently to ensure they receive the support they need when they need it the most is just a small token of our appreciation for their great and many sacrifices.”

The 9/11 Memorial Golf Fund will hold fundraising events each year in honor of the anniversary of September 11 through a series of events that include fundraising efforts and collaborative events. This year’s kick-off event is a Text-to-Give campaign. Those who wish to give are encouraged to donate $9.11 by texting “911 GOLF” to 91999 now through Dec. 31, 2021.
